Franklyn's Life Journey

Franklyn's Life Journey

Birth

On Sunday June 27, 1965, a healthy baby girl was born to William Jonfia and Elizabeth Jonfia (née Koufie) at Mrs. Cudjoe's maternity home in Effiakuma New Site. She was named Franklyn after her paternal uncle Frank; she became the third of four daughters in the Jonfia family.

Education

Franklyn began her education at Bethany Methodist Primary School in Essikado in 1970. Her birth was seen as a divine blessing to the family, as it coincided with her father's admission to Trinity College, where he pursued studies to become a Minister of the Gospel - a milestone made even more meaningful by her arrival within wedlock.

After completing his studies at Trinity College, Franklyn's father was commissioned as a chaplain in the Ghana Armed Forces. His posting to the 6th Infantry Battalion in Tamale led the family to relocate, prompting Franklyn to continue her education at the Airforce School Complex at Mile Nine in Tamale.

Following her father's subsequent transfer, Franklyn completed her primary education at Field Engineer Regiment Primary School in Teshie. After excelling in the Common Entrance Examination, she gained admission to Wesley Grammar School in Dansoman for her secondary education. In June 1983, she passed her O-Level examinations with outstanding results, marking another academic achievement in her educational journey.

Building on her banking experience, Franklyn pursued extensive professional development through both on-the-job training and private studies. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Valley View University, graduating with Second Class Upper Honours, demonstrating her commitment to academic excellence alongside her career.

Career

With her outstanding academic results, Franklyn was offered a position at Ghana Commercial Bank by Mr. Afful Bempong. Throughout her career, she has served at several key branches, including:

  • Tema Market Branch
  • Tema Main Branch
  • Trade Fair Branch
  • Derby Avenue Branch
  • Kaneshie Market Branch

Family & Community

Franklyn married her teenage sweetheart, Samuel Kwabena Apraku, and together they built a beautiful family. Their union is blessed with two accomplished young adults: Samuel Ato Apraku and Franklyn Ewuraesi Apraku.

Franklyn's blessings continue to multiply with the addition of her dear grand daughter, Olive Nora. Through all of life's seasons - including the profound loss, she remains deeply grateful to God for His sustaining grace. Even in grief, His favour has strengthened her to face each new day with courage and hope. To God be the glory for the beautiful life He has granted her. Amen.
